Creating a Communication Channel

Alerts are delivered via communication channels. IO River supports the following communication channel types:

  • Slack
  • Email

To create a communication channel:

  1. Navigate to the Account page.
  2. On the sidebar, choose Alerts.
  3. Click on the Add Channel button.
  4. Fill the new channel form:
    • Name - Name of the channel.
    • Type - Type of the channel.
    • Fill the required information according to the selected channel type:
      • Slack
        • Provide the Webhook URL as described below.
      • Email
        • Provide a list of emails.
        • Alternatively, you can use the Send alerts to all Admins checkbox to notify all admins (new admins will be automatically notified).
  5. Click on Save.

Once created, the new channel will show up in the list of communication channels.

Integrating with Slack

To create a Slack integration, follow the steps described here to create a Slack app with an incoming webhook. Once created, you should have the Webhook URL to be used when creating a communication channel.

Creating an Alert

To create an alert:

  1. Navigate to the Account page.
  2. On the sidebar, choose Alerts.
  3. Click on the Add Alert button.
  4. Fill out the new alert form:
    • Name - Name of the alert.
    • Type - Select the type of alert.
    • Provide the information required according to the alert type.
    • Communication - Select the communication channels to be used with the new alert.
  5. Click on Save.

Once created, the new alert will show up in the list of alerts.
